Summary:
Sixteen-year-old Maya is just an ordinary teen
in an ordinary town. Sure, she doesn't know much about her background - the
only thing she really has to cling to is an odd paw-print birthmark on her hip
- but she never really put much thought into who her parents were or how she ended
up with her adopted parents in this tiny medical-research community on
Vancouver Island.
Until now.
Until now.
Strange things have been happening in this
claustrophobic town and Maya has found herself right in the middle of it
all.
My Review:
Just finished readings
Kelley Armstrong’s first book in her Darkest Power Trilogy The Gathering and
let me tell you OMG! What a read. I had
heard nothing but awesome reviews so I picked up a copy along with The Calling
when I went to her book signing this past April 7 2012 so glad I did.
The Gathering stars Maya
Delaney a 16 year old girl who lives on a small, isolated Island on Vancouver Island
where the adults in town work for a really shady scientific research company, but
what is even more creepier is the company actually built the entire isolated
town for the sole purpose of keeping it under wraps from potential corporate
spies hmmm wonder what they’re trying to hide?? Then strange things start to
happen to Maya first her best friend Serena drowns in the town lake which is
odd since she is one of the strongest swimmers on her school team then Maya wonders
why she has such a connection with the cougars in her town she is constantly
running into them and never being harmed. Her best guy friend Daniel, has a knack
for feeling out people vibes good or bad, and if that isn’t enough all these questions
start to pop up regarding her birth parents (she’s adopted) but then add
another log to the fire and enter sexy dark mysterious new guy in town Rafe and
you know you can’t put the book down just yet!
I found The Gathering
slow to start but don’t let that fool you cause it made you get to know a
little more about all the characters in the story which I really liked they
were all interesting characters and watching their interactions with one
another made me care more on what happened to them on a personal level. They all
had a lot going in their own life’s especially in their personal relationships some
were crazy but well worth it! Lots of secrets come undone and lots are being
kept! I found myself figuring out the
plots but then BAM! Kelley Armstrong steers you in another direction it kept me
on my toes which is usually pretty hard for someone to do! lol I can’t go into more detail without giving
out spoilers so I’m going to hush and let you figure out your take on it is .
My Final Thoughts:
*Lisa
